With it being well into 2015 some old and new design trends are beginning to pop up. Here is a list of five design trends that I have seen while searching the internet for design ideas.
With more people using different size devices to search the internet it is very important to have a responsive site. If your site is not responsive here is a bigger reason to make it so, on April 21st 2015 Google will launch a new algorithm that will see if your website is configured properly for different devices. If your website is not tailored towards mobile devices, it will not appear on mobile search results.
In the past few years Typography taken the internet by storm. It used to be that “Web Safe Fonts” consisted of 10 standard fonts where now there are hundreds upon hundreds of web safe fonts. This vast selection of fonts allows you to find the perfect one to fit with your website and look beautiful.
A few seconds is all you have to grasp someone’s attention when they come to your site. What better way to do this than to impress them on the home page? Many companies are using large beautiful background images or videos that give the user an idea of what the website is about within the first few seconds. Videos are great because if done correctly, it will grab the user and hold them there for the entire pitch. Be sure that you are using videos correctly though. Improper use of a video can just as easily turn a user away from your site.
There are many companies that have fully embraced this step, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Best Buy, are some examples. Personalized UX allows developers to gain intimate knowledge about the users coming to their site. This in turn allows the developers to not only anticipate what users are actually looking for and help guide them to where they need to go, but also allows you to guide them where you want them to go. This can be done with visual clues, calls-to-action, or any other visual trail that guides the user from one place to the next. This is very important in today’s world where everything is fast moving and people want do things as quickly and easily as possible.
